About Cooper
💙 Meet Cooper 💙
❄️ WINTER WOOF DRIVE REDUCED $50 ADOPTION FEE ❄️
Cooper is a sweet boy who can be shy and lacks some confidence. He is very loving towards the people he knows but needs time to adjust to new people. We are looking for a caring owner who will gently open up this boys world.
HOUSEHOLD- Cooper's nature and behaviour is indicative of leading a sheltered life. His confidence has improved since he came into our care, but being in a shelter environment, we cannot provide all of Coopers confidence building needs. To nurture Cooper to further boost his confidence, he requires an understanding and experienced dog owner to guide him.
All Cooper requires is further exposure to different environments, social settings and the security of a loving home for him to grow and blossom.
At this stage Cooper is suitable for a household with children 12 + which are non boisterous and confident.
ON-GOING TRAINING- Cooper is easily distracted by what is going on around him. To get him to focus and listen, we use treats which works well. Cooper does know some basic commands which is a good foundation for further training.
ON LEAD- Cooper is a strong boy and requires a fit, strong handler. He has received some lead training and is manageable. We believe a consistent excerise routine will further improve Coopers lead manners and his overall behaviour when exploring the outdoors.
PLAY/TOYS- Cooper will play with toys now and then but overall he has shown little interest in them.
OTHER DOGS- Cooper requires on going dog socialisation. We have introduced him to a number of his pound buddies. Due to his limited exposure to dogs in the past, Cooper copes quite well but he lacks the correct manners when introducing himself. He becomes excited and a little pushy.
Cooper requires further controlled dog socialisation. At this stage until his doggie manners improve, Cooper is only suitable as an only boy of the household. Cooper is not ready nor suitable for off lead dog parks etc.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- Cooper was quite scared when he was walked through our cattery and instantly wanted to leave. We believe a home without cats is advisable.
CARE/GROOMING- Cooper requires bathing every 3-4 weeks to minimise shedding and maintain healthy skin and coat. Brushing Cooper's coat weekly will also assist in minimising shedding and be a great bonding opportunity.
EXERCISE- Cooper would thrive being walked daily and given opportunities to experience everday life. Due to Cooper being previously under socialised, he can be cautious in new environments. By exercising him regularly, his confidence will only get better.
NUTRITION- Cooper is a non fussy eater.
BREED - Great Dane x Kelpie
Cooper is located at our Erina Shelter and his $300 adoption fee covers: desexing, lifetime registration, microchipping, current vaccination, flea & worming treatments.
Cooper is a loving boy who deserves a loyal family to dote on him. If you tick all of Cooper's rehoming requirements, please lodge your adoption online.
