About Artemis
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT FLY OUR ANIMALS WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Artemis
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance with her siblings at 5 weeks of age.
BREED: Ridgeback X
Breed Traits: Rhodesian Ridgeback: smart but stubborn with a dignified aloofness to strangers, Mischievous and strong willed so would need an experienced owner. They are sensitive and do not do well when left alone for long periods. Affectionate and gentle with family and will defend their home if necessary. Their high prey drive precludes other animals unless raised together. If bored and lonely can be destructive or wander so strong, high fencing is needed. Not a dog for novice owners.
********************************************************************************
ASSETS: Extremely sweet natured, devoted to her people, friendly, laidback, sweet and playful pretty much sums this gorgeous girl up. She’s incredibly intelligent and is eager to learn and engage with everything around her.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Artemis is a gentle, loving pup who loves to snuggle and please. She enjoys playing with squeaky toys and running around with her foster siblings.
ENDEARING FEATURES: Artemis has the most beautiful gentle looking face and eyes. She has a kind and gentle nature and loves to be loved.
OTHER ANIMALS: She has lived with 5 dog-savvy cats and has been introduced to many farm animals including horses and goats. She is very respectful of large animals but tends to chase flighty animals such as chickens and timid cats. She would love to have another youngish dog to play and engage with in her new home.
GENERAL INFO: Artemis is housetrained and has full time access to a dog door which she is extremely proficient at using. Her basic command training is well underway and she can sit, stay and wait respectfully for her dinner. She doesn’t jump up, is currently being taught to walk at her persons side, she pulls a little at first but will settle and walk well on her lead, enjoys going for drives in the car. Rarely barks. She would benefit greatly from ongoing classes, education and socialization as she is a keen learner but can get a little overwhelmed by new surroundings. She is crate trained and knows it is her safe place. She currently weighs 21kg at 5 and a half months old and is expected to be medium to large sized when fully grown.
ESSENTIALS for Artemis:
** an active, loving home where someone is there for most of the day, essential in the first six months after adoption
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden (she can really jump!) where she can run, play, sniff and explore
** attendance at training school and continued training into adulthood for her to learn and grow confidence
** daily walks/playtime to keep her happy and healthy
Artemis could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 8 years of age who will play and interact with her appropriately but know when to give her space.
