Introducing Handsome Captain 💙
Captain is a happy boy who has a lot of energy. He is cheeky, very likeable and loves his people.
HOUSEHOLD - Captain is easy to fall in love with. He has a larger than life personality and would be a very loyal family addition.
Captain's previous owner has not taken the time to ensure he was given the necessary training early in his life. His new owner will need to be understanding of this and provide him with the consistency that he requires both with training and routine.
ON GOING TRAINING - Captain is still very puppy like requiring further training with obedience and manners. He is receptive to wanting to learn and eager to engage with his handler.
ON LEASH - Captain is excitable on lead. He is bouncy and will pull if not corrected. He requires ongoing lead training and a consistent walking routine to improve his lead manners.
PLAY/TOYS - Captain enjoys playing with toys although he isn't very good at catching them !
OTHER DOGS - We have introduced Captain to a number of his pound buddies. He is eager to meet them and becomes vocal letting you know how keen he is. Once introduced he settles but attempts to initiate play in an invasive way. No aggression is displayed. It is obvious that Captain has had limited interactions with other dogs in the past and requires on going socialisation to help improve his manners and to settle his initial excitable approach. Captain showed a preferred liking to the canine girls but is accepting of canine males once introduced in a calm manner.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS - Captain has shown no interest in our facility cats. His focus is more wanting to sniff and explore his surroundings.
It may be possible for Captain to live in harmony with a resident feline after a period of supervised slow, controlled introductions.
CARE/GROOMING - Captain has a short staffy coat requiring a weekly brush and a wash when needed. Captain soaks up any attention given and enjoys all types of handling.
EXERCISE - It is vital Captain has plenty of opportunities to experience different outdoor settings and socialise with other canine buddies. He is high energy requiring daily walks/runs and playtime at home.
NUTRITION - Captain is not on a specific diet and is a non fussy eater.
BREED - DOB 23/6/23 - Blue Staffy X
Captain is located at our Erina Shelter. His $550 adoption fee covers - microchipping, desexing, lifetime registration, current vaccination, flea and worming treatments.
Captain loves life and his humans. Unfortunately his previous owner has let him down by not investigating time for training, socialisation and attention while Captain was a puppy.
Captain craves love and bonds well with his handler. With time and a little effort invested, Captain will no doubt develop into a well adjusted boy.
If you have the experience, time and patience needed for Captain, please lodge your adoption interest online.
