About Cleo
Cleo has just the sweetest face, and a heart of gold to match. She's overcome a lot in her short life but is really shining now & her foster parents are loving watching this special girl blossom more and more every day!
Just like some people, some dogs aren't natural socialites & will always be a bit uncomfortable with strangers & new people. Cleo is nervous with people she doesn't know, but she's learning that it's ok to be shy, and uses her "safe place" when she's a little unsure. It's been a journey for Cleo to be loving life, and even though it will take time & patience to build her trust, once she gets to know you you'll have a snuggle buddy for life! She absolutely loves snuggling up on the lounge with her foster dad at night, and can't understand when her foster mum thinks it's a problem that she's lost her spot! Be warned- it's very hard to say no to that big squishy face!
Cleo's favourite things to do are eating, snuggling, playing, and sleeping! She gets so excited for yummy treats that she turns into a big clown & jumps around in the air. But she is so clever that she's now learned that as soon as she sits she gets her dinner. Being so clever and food motivated will make Cleo easy to teach new things in the future. Unfortunately she's had some bad experiences on lead, so her current project is learning to see it as a positive so that she'll eventually be able to enjoy going for walks on lead.
Cleo currently lives on property in the Lake Macquarie area, and is loving the life of being a property dog- this doesn't mean she needs to live on property though. She's the only dog at the moment but lives in harmony with some livestock. She isn't quite ready for lead walks, but has a blast running around the property & down to the dam. She has gotten to meet a few dogs, and has a blast having a big play. Going to a home with a happy & social male dog would be great for her, so would arrange for the dogs to meet & see if they're a good match before adoption.
Cleo is looking for a calm household with NO YOUNG CHILDREN, a FRIENDLY MALE DOG, and a FAMILY WITH DOG EXPERIENCE who are committed to ongoing positive management of her fearful behaviour & will welcome her to be an INDOOR / OUTDOOR family member. She isn't available to meet at the shelter, but if she sounds like your new best mate, please email her foster mum Hannah at hburfitt@rspcansw.org.au with some details about yourself.
