About Malachite
Just like her namesake, Malachite is a gem of a cat with an beautiful silky coat! Rescued as a young mum who was living as a stray, Malachite is now getting accustomed to the safety and comfort of living inside a home. She did a wonderful job protecting and raising her kittens, and now that they are all grown up, it's Malachite's turn to find her forever home and happiness!
Because being a housecat is still fairly new to her, Malachite would benefit from an experienced cat person, and a quiet and relaxing environment where she can settle in and feel at home. She gets along really well with feline friends, and it would be wonderful if you already have a confident and friendly cat that could show her the ropes and let her know that she's in a good place and can trust humans.
Malachite is still young, and has a goofy playful streak that comes out once she's comfortable. She has been known to ensure your feet behave while you're putting on socks by giving them a few gentle smacks! She also is very communicative in quirky and diverse ways, ranging from trills to chirps to growls, as well as some very unique and entertaining facial expressions. Malachite has recently begun to appreciate neck and chin scratches on the couch in the evenings, and prefers sleeping in bed with her human and cat friends.
Compassion and patience are qualities that will go far with Malachite- give her time, and you will have an incredibly rewarding experience as she slowly learns how to trust, and you bond with this very sweet girl.
Malachite is very clever, and took to using her litter box immediately with no issues. She will go far with the loving, kind, and patient person she deserves.
For her own safety, Malachite is a strictly indoor cat, with the exception of a very secure cat run.
Adoption details
Regardless of the breed of animal you are looking to adopt, our adoption process is the same.
The first step of the process involves submitting an adoption application form. The form helps us understand a little bit more about you and your household and is used to figure out whether animal is the right fit for your household and what you are looking for, and also if your household is the right fit for the animal.
After a review process, shortlisted applicants will be contacted by one of our volunteer adoption coordinators usually by phone call or message. This is an informal conversation to discuss any questions we may have about the application and re-confirm any information provided. It is usually at at this point that we will organise a Meet & Greet with you and the animal.
It is a Strong Heart’s adoption policy to arrange a Meet & Greet with the prospective family and the animal before finalising the adoption. The Meet & Greet will allow the opportunity to visit the animal and have a pat and a play with them. The foster carer will tell you a bit about the animal's personality and what they have been like for the time they’ve been in their care. It is a great opportunity to ask the carer about the animals food, sleeping and any other health requirements.
If the Meet & Greet goes well on the day, in most cases you will be able to take the animal home straight away after payment of the adoption fee. All necessary paperwork including vet work history and transfer of ownership information will be sent via email within a few days unless otherwise specified.
